Mobile Network APIs

Application Services for Mobile Operators

Open, standardized APIs can be used to provide the glue between IT applications and core telecommunications network services exposed via secure, measured and billable interfaces. Third-party applications can benefit from integrating telecommunications functions independent from the underlying network technology.

OneAPI Profile 4.0 defines a reduced set of mobile Network APIs and their operations, without changing the interfaces themselves. Such simplification is intended to promote easier access to the wireless switching subsystem, and broader exploitation of Network (a.k.a. Parlay) service capabilities in the global developer community.

The identified Network APIs include short and multimedia messaging, terminal location and status, payment processing, device capabilities and configuration, and customer profile management. Each service presents a REST interface with JSON and XML data interchange formats, offering a single logical point of contact for all client applications planning to integrate the respective telecommunications function.
